QB Tourtière: A Savoury Traditional Treat to Celebrate Easter
There’s a savoury and sweet recipe that instantly takes Victor, QB's Gelato Master and co-Owner, back to the joyful family celebrations of his childhood in St. Albert, Alberta. It’s a recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation in his household and its flavour combination is the epitome of holiday meals for both he and Kevin, his partner in both life and business. Once the spice-filled aroma fills the room with notes of cinnamon, sage, thyme, allspice, clove, and nutmeg he's reminded of what makes Easter so special. It evokes memories of Victor's grand-mère teaching him how to make traditional tourtière and the moments of merriment they shared around the table sharing it as a family.
So every year, he makes his traditional tourtière recipe for family and friends, and now Victor makes them for his customers to enjoy as well! He's spent time perfecting the recipe with the perfect mix of local ingredients and quality spices from Lakeview Market and Illichmann’s. Natasha, QB's Pastry Chef, has also been diligently remastering the exceptionally buttery golden crust just like Victor's grand-mère used to make.
Victor and Kevin believe, no holiday is complete without something truly special to share. A hearty perfectly seasoned minced meat pie with a deliciously flakey crust is always a hit at their home. QB only makes them three times a year for people to take home and experience for themselves.
